Academic - Nurse Educator

UNM Taos

Level 1 Trauma Certified Adult Academic Health Center. Supports Adult trauma, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, CV, PV, General Surgery, GYN, Urology, Robotics, Breast, Plastics, and Oral/Maxillary.

Preceptorship supports BSN and MSN students seeking leadership, research, or education clinical hours. Preceptor is MSN prepared working as a Nursing Development Specialist with a background in the OR, Infection Prevention, Healthcare Quality, and Perioperative Leadership with multiple published research studies, professional nursing presentations, and decades of volunteerism. Flexible clinical hours, networking skills, and identifying resources are a focus of this preceptorship.

Fast-paced and acute cardiovascular intensive care CVICU setting. Only Heart-Lung transplant program in Georgia. Patients receive multiple high acuity therapies including: various mechanical cardiac assist devices (Impella, IABP), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and ECMO.

This preceptorship will occur on weekends only. RN/BSN students only.

Administrative and Nursing Leadership

Experienced nurse leader who has extensive acute care, perioperative and administrative leadership experience available for precepting and mentorship via virtual access (email, video meetings, phone).

Hospice and palliative care practice settings focus on providing compassionate, holistic care to individuals with serious, chronic, or terminal illnesses. The goal is to enhance quality of life by managing symptoms, controlling pain, offering emotional and spiritual support, and assisting patients and families with decision-making and end-of-life planning. These services are delivered across several settings, including: Hospice inpatient units: Facilities specifically designed to provide intensive comfort care when symptoms cannot be managed at home. Patient homes: Many patients receive hospice or palliative care at home, where interdisciplinary teams (nurses, physicians, social workers, chaplains, aides) visit to offer medical care, counseling, and support. Hospitals: Palliative care teams often work within hospitals to assist with symptom management and advance care planning for hospitalized patients. Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and assisted living facilities: Hospice teams partner with facility staff to provide additional end-of-life care. Outpatient palliative care clinics: Patients with serious illness but not necessarily near the end of life can receive ongoing symptom management and supportive care. The setting is highly patient- and family-centered, emphasizing dignity, respect for individual values, communication, and coordinated care. The environment tends to be quieter, more personalized, and supportive compared to acute medical settings.

Cardiac surgery, operating room

I have 17 years of experience as an operating room nurse. I began my cardiac surgery specialty in 2010, followed by training as an RNFA in cardiac surgery in 2011. I worked as a travel nurse for 8 years and have recently transitioned into a unit nurse educator role for the CVOR

With over 15 years of diverse nursing experience across med-surg, oncology, quality improvement, long-term care, LTAC, infectiology, and float pool nursing, I bring a well-rounded clinical background and a deep commitment to excellence in patient care.
